A wonderful weekend spent at the Basin Harbor Club with my dear daughter inspired this painting! What a great, relaxing time we had and it definitely is the way it should always be – if only….!

“The Way It Should Be” won a Silver Medal and cash award for Landscape Painting at the Green Mountain Watercolor Exhibition, at the Red Barn Gallery, Lareau Farm in Waitsfield Vermont, 2016.

Several years ago, I entered an art exhibit at Basin Harbor Club in Vergennes and won a weekend for two there. This painting was one of several scenes I painted  from sketches and photos I made while enjoying my weekend. Andrea, my daughter, who joined me, was enjoying the view and the idea and spirit for a painting was born! The peaceful, sunlit day and gentle breezes gave me my title!
